I really can’t get enough of these sweet newborns. While I used to get a tiny bit nervous before someone showed up with their brand new baby, I now get ridiculously excited. I think with newborns it seems especially rewarding, since it is challenging to get them not only asleep, but comfortable looking, every finger in place, little scowls relaxed and no parts showing that shouldn’t be…..:) They really are a lot of work, but it is so exciting to get them in that perfect position and have them sleep away while parents silently cheer in the background that their baby is fully cooperating. The funny thing is that most people say, “all those babies are so cute on your blog, there’s no way he’ll let you stuff him into a bucket like that…..” and then a few weeks later, that baby is one of “those babies on the blog”. Why am I rambling? I must be suffering the effects of going one week straight with not one milk chocolate mini egg. Mmmm. Cadbury mini eggs.

A few years ago I met this very sweet family when they brought their first newborn girl Alexis in to be photographed, and now they’ve added tiny Sophie. I could have kept her, I really could have. She was so itty bitty and very cuddly with me, I soaked up every moment.

haha oh my gosh, so in the middle of posting these pictures, I drove to Albertsons (or whatever the new name is now) and bought a bag of mini eggs. Nothing else. While everyone in my house is sleeping. I snuck out and bought something I’m trying so hard not to eat. I really hate this one track mind sometimes. But then I thought Easter is going to be over next week and they’ll be gone. For a whole year. So I panicked, and now I’m eating them. DANG IT.

I need help Skye.

What is a mini-egg?! Is it like a soft chocolate, like a kiss, in the egg shape? Or is it like an M&M with a shell? I need a visualization or I might die. (My chocolate spiritual self that is.)

I’ve been following your blog for several months now, and your pictures just take my breath away! My husband and I are about to start trying for a baby, and I keep thinking, “How can I get my pictures done by Skye if I live hours and hours away once I have a newborn?!” I promise I’m a crazy stalker, I just love photography blogs, and yours is definitely one of my favorites!

You need to make a visit central Arkansas :) …around the time I will be having a baby haha!

*note : that was supposed to say “I’m NOT a crazy stalker”. :)

I love how you can get a feel from your photos how tiny she really is. So sweet. And I to am addicted to those eggs. I curve my craving again during christmas with that version. I call them snowballs, but I know I totally made that up. Either way they taste the same just x-mas colors. YUMM-O

Your hard work always pays off because they all look sooo peaceful!! I think you need to do a post of a few that just don’t turn out just so we can see that you are in fact, human :)

mini eggs are available year round now. . . or maybe i shouldn’t be telling you that. and maybe it was here, or maybe it was in canada. . . one of the places! i also panicked last night about the easter candy disappearing. i need to stock up on hot tamale licorice jelly beans, or i might not survive until next year.

p.s. where do the tiny flowered headbands come from? i think jake might approve of those ones! and, i find out in less than two weeks if it’s a boy or girl!!!

Okay WAIT. Christmas mini eggs that are ornaments. Shut the front door. That is the best and worst news ever. I finished off half the bag I bought last night and I’m working on the rest right now for lunch. Why are they so dang good?
Emily, they have a hard candy shell on them with the most luxurious creamy milk chocolate on the inside. I usually eat the candy off the outside and let the rest melt in my mouth. They are my favorite junk food addiction. I don’t drink any pop, I don’t even really like chips, but things with chocolate are unavoidable for me. It’s bad. Anyways, they are in a dark purple bag and they are from Cadbury. It’s worth going to hunt for them!!
Melissa I like crazy stalkers, they make me happy….:)

What an adorable tiny doll! Love those first few with her cheeks and tiny little hands. I have to admit I am always shocked that every newborn you post looks like a floppy sleepy baby, I just don’t get how you make them all cooperate! I guess that’s why you are so great!

Heather - March 30, 2010 - 1:52 pm

She is so adorable!!!! You can totally tell how small she is in these pictures. You have the funnest job ever, please trade with me, you know you want to.

katie - March 30, 2010 - 2:32 pm

wow she is so tiny! Beautiful.
Lets not talk about mini eggs. I ate a whole bag and now Lyla is so fussy:(

Teresa Henrie - March 30, 2010 - 2:42 pm

My weakness is the Hershey’s Eggs. Last year I couldn’t find any!! So, this year I bought a bag as soon as I saw them at Smiths. Then I had to buy another bag…and another….and now they are all sold out :( As always, such adorable pictures!

Annmarie - March 30, 2010 - 6:54 pm
