Project 52. It’s over.

And I am totally embarrassed that I didn’t even finish. I got about 30/52. Not great. But I have 30 priceless pictures of me and my kids and it has made me so aware of how little I’m actually in pictures with them. I do know that there was quite a few people who did it faithfully and they will be rewarded! If you did all 52 weeks, or pretty close, leave a comment about it and send me an email. I have some awesome prizes including a FREE shoot from me and some goodies from Jason at iprintcanvas and from Pro Digital Photos. If you win anything you better be able to prove you took the pictures!

Don’t know what Project 52 is? Over a year ago I decided that I was going to try to get in at least one picture a week with one (or all) of my kids. At the end of the year there would be 52 pictures. I got 30 and I’m so in love with them. (not because I love myself, but because I have proof that I was part of my kids lives…haha) Anyways, I had a lot of people do it too and I have even followed some blogs where groups of moms were doing it and it was so fun to look at all the pictures.

I will announce the winners of everything on Tuesday morning. So let me know if you participated!

Your collection is so gorgeous, mine are not nearly as perfect as yours. I did participate but only got to 45, I coule hurry and add another 5 so that I could possibly win the free session. I have posted all of mine on my blog but it is private so here is the address ourknightbliss.blogspot.com, and I will send you an invite. I hope I win, it was so worth it to get in front of the camera every now and again, even when I was huge and prego! Thanks for the great idea of getting in front of the camera with my kiddos.

brooke - March 21, 2010 - 11:02 am

Thanks for the great inspiration with this project Skye! We are in MN, so we didn’t participate to win a session (even though that would be SUUUUPER cool). Just thought I would show you our link so you could see how you inspired us on it. I only made it to the 30′s also (BOO!), but like you said – way more than I would have had otherwise!

Some of the other girls that participated in our little blog project got much closer to 52 – we blogged them at http://mamainthepicture.blogspot.com/.

Thanks again!

What an amazing idea! I am always surprised at how few photos I have with Finn (or even my husband) – this is a great goal for this year, especially with another addition on the way.

You have one of the most adorably sweet families I’ve ever seen! This is the first I’ve seen your husband and now I can see each of you in your beautiful children. What a gift to them to do this – even if you only hit 30, it’s probably a good 23 more than we have!

You inspire me in so many wonderful ways! Thank you!

kelsey - March 21, 2010 - 11:46 am

my favorite is still the look on your face in the cookie-making picture! ha.

Jenny - March 21, 2010 - 12:01 pm

Your photos are gorgeous! I got all 52 photos for my project 52. Wish more of them looked as great as yours, but I’m so happy to have the pictures of me with my kids. You are so right – moms are usually the ones taking the photos. I’m hoping to be better in the future about getting in the pictures myself. Here’s a link to my project 52 posts:

kelly stewart - March 21, 2010 - 1:54 pm

I did it, I did it! Mine of course aren’t nearly as perfect as yours, but they are mine, and I love them, and the sweet faces in them! Even if I don’t win anything (which I think I totally SHOULD!), I am so glad I did it. I even wrote a little info. about each picture that was taken, when and where. I love looking back at it all, and hope to bind it all together. Love it! Thanks for the inspiration, and love you!

Lisa V - March 22, 2010 - 2:12 am

Oh Skye! You made me cry! I am sitting here bawling! I want to tell you Thank you Thank you Thank you for giving me the idea and motivation to do this little project. I only got to 32 but….. seriously – looking at the photos of me and my kids – going through my pregnancy with Kai – seriously – amazing memories that I would not have otherwise captured. Thanks again for the great experience!
Lisa :)

Tracie Henderson - March 22, 2010 - 3:12 am

You are way too young to have all those kids. It just boggles my mind that you are this amazing photographer that everyone looks up to and you are raising these four beautiful children (and hubby!) You are truly amazing!

Heather - March 22, 2010 - 3:14 am

Skye I admire you so much as a photographer, but even more so as a mother. You are obviously an amazing mother, your kids are so sweet and well behaved and I can only pray that mine will turn out as well. Looking at these pictures made me cry and you have really rubbed in the importance of being in pictures with your kids.

Michelle - March 22, 2010 - 3:16 am

You are so inspiring Skye! I can’t get over your boys bright blue eyes and blonde hair, I never would have imagined those coming from you and Ryan! Adorable.

Amber Watson - March 22, 2010 - 3:16 am

Could your family be any more beautiful? Geez share some with the rest of the world! lol!

Amanda Keeys - March 22, 2010 - 3:59 am

No wonder your kids are so gorgeous, look at you! :) What a fab idea… I need to do this sometime. Congrats on getting 30 of 52! Even that is impressive to me.

Brianne Serrano - March 22, 2010 - 9:04 am

Chloe - March 22, 2010 - 11:42 am

Oh my goodness! Look at all your beautiful picutures of you and your kiddos! Love the idea and concept of project 52!
But, can I just say you have inspired me in so many ways!(I will be emailing you later..toooooo long for a comment) ;)
I wish I would have found your blog earlier, because I didn’t know about project 52 until the end of June. I have been pretty good about taking the pics every week, since June. I have 30 right now. If I kept on track religiously I would of had 52 by the end of August or so. Winners or not, awesome idea. Thanks for inspiring me and so many others!

Kim Schoepke - March 22, 2010 - 11:58 am

LOVE YOUR FAMILY, LOVE YOUR FAMILY, LOVE YOUR FAMILY!!! Even Ryan made it in a few of these pictures! Love the project 52 idea and want to make sure to get myself in some of our family photos too! Is is crazy if I want Kamryn to come back this summer? I think I’m obsessed!!!!

Julie Evans - March 22, 2010 - 12:59 pm

Thanks to you I now have the most incredible gift, representing the last 52 weeks, to cherish forever. Thank you for this beautiful challenge. I hope to continue on and challenge myself to do this for as long as I possible can. You are such an inspiration.

Erin Johanson - March 22, 2010 - 2:42 pm

Hi – I actually emailed you earlier about this – but then I saw your post – these are all so awesome!! I am currently on 40, and i really have set a goal to get finish in a couple of weeks.

Lauren Schreiner - March 22, 2010 - 2:51 pm

Skye,
The idea and inspiration to do this has been such a great gift to me and obviously so many others. When I finished my book I was so happy to have so many priceless moments of the first year of being a mom. Thanks again!

Brianne - March 22, 2010 - 5:22 pm

I don’t think my comment went thru the first time…I am so glad you did this project and challenged us to do it as well. I am in love with the pics I got of my and my kids… I think I am going to have to frame a few! Some I had no idea were even taken until I loaded my cards into my computer. Thank you for asking me to do this project, I am so grateful!

Michelle Gougeon - March 22, 2010 - 5:57 pm

I first heard about the 52 project when you posted the picture of yourself in the yellow shirt and green cardigan. I look terrible in yellow so I just assumed that as a brunette I couldn’t wear green either. After I saw this picture it got me thinking and I went out and bought green. So thanks.

Vanessa - March 22, 2010 - 8:09 pm

Hey Girl…you should be proud you have even one…I am the worst!!! What great pics! I love them :)

Melissa - March 22, 2010 - 8:30 pm

Skye- I was inspired by you and this project and did my best to take 52 pictures with my baby over the past year- and, like you, I am so glad I did!!

Janelle Bingham - March 23, 2010 - 3:57 am

I hope I’m not too late! I sent you an email also but I don’t even care if I win anything. I now have 52 pictures that are my greatest treasure as a mommy and I love them with all my heart. I am getting my favorite done on canvas and having a book made to sit on a little shelf beside it. You have given me an amazing gift.

Cori - March 23, 2010 - 3:58 am

I missed out on this challenge, are you going to do another one? like something else? I would love to participate! You are a huge inspiration as a photographer and a mother. I love you and your work, amazing!

Kristi - March 23, 2010 - 9:57 am

SKYE! I participated in Project 52!!! I didn’t geet quite to 52…but I made it to 45 weeks! It is crazy to watch her grow throughout the pictures and to watch me change (get older!) as well! I have loved this..I hope I win the session! Thanks Skye! You’re incredible!

Stacie - March 23, 2010 - 9:06 pm

skye johansen - March 26, 2010 - 8:59 pm

You guys are all way too nice! I am so excited that I did this, I already cherish these pictures so much and I know I will even more as time goes on!
Andrea that one is my favorite too!
Cori I would like to do other challenges, since I am the worst at having ideas but not following through, it helps to have some pressure so I get it done!
