I have loved photographing Everett’s older brothers and I wasn’t a bit surprised when his mom brought him over and he was the most HANDSOME baby boy ever. His hair, his eyes, his perfect little eyebrows and his adorable chubby hands were all just too much. He was loving sticking out his tongue too but mom was able to poke it back into his mouth so we got lots of both. Seriously what a freaking cutie. Doesn’t he look wayyyyyy old then just 9 months??

What’s a better look for him…..dapper dan?? or little punk? I can’t decide!

And when Everett would have nothing to do with the suitcase, I had Saylor come and show him how it’s done. It seems to work everytime. He went in just fine after he watched her. I told her to show me her “spongebob teeth” as my other kids call them. And she did. I am starting to wonder if she’ll ever get more teeth. She looks hilarious.

It’s going to be hard for you to handle these four gorgeous kids below. I’m not going to lie, when Kylee emailed me and said she wanted to bring in her 11 year old girl, 3 1/2 year old twins boys and 2 1/2 year old boy in to get their pictures taken, I thought to myself, “brace yourself, it’s lots of little boys but you can do this. Hopefully.”
Not that boys are bad or anything. They just aren’t that interested in getting pictures taken. They are so much more interested in playing with the air hockey table in my basement, seeing how much weight my wire basket will hold or if they can fit their bodies under my studio couch.
But aside from a few wrestling incidents, these boys were amazing. I don’t know what their mom bribed them with, but it sure worked. They had so much personality and did everything I asked them. AMAZING. Hailey of course was just a dream, so photogenic and simply beautiful beyond words. Now check out these four adorable kids, I’m pretty sure their mom isn’t excited AT ALL to see these pictures……….

Sessions are full full full! I’m pretty excited, just crossing my fingers that the Southern Alberta weather will cooperate…..aka NO WIND. (hey I can hope right???)
Well we are heading up to Canada for my brother Chance’s wedding at the beginning of April. I get lots of emails from my fellow Canadians asking if I ever shoot when I go home to Canada to visit. I haven’t really before except for a few close friends and family, but for the first time in 7 years I’m not pregnant or nursing a baby, so I think I can swing it! I will be booking shoots from April 5-9. I will be taking 6 sessions, although 3 have already been booked. The session will be $400 for one location of your choice, $500 for two locations. A $100 non-refundable deposit will be required to hold your spot. The cost includes the session for up to 2 children ($25 per extra child of the same immediate family) and the edited images on CD. I will take a family picture if you want, but let me stress that I don’t know what to do with grown ups in pictures……so yeah. The focus will mainly be on the kids. Sessions will be taking place in good ol’ Lethbridge Alberta.
I am really excited to do this, my favorite pictures of my kids are always the ones I take when I’m in Canada. Email me if you’d like to book or if you have any questions.
Some I took of my kids when I was home last summer…….

And some of my friend Kelly’s adorable bunch…….

When Beth’s mom emailed me, she said, “well she’s nine and a half pounds, so she’s not much of a newborn!” But oh my gosh she was so cute, so sleepy and just too sweet. I worked quickly and she let me get through a bunch of pictures really fast, but when she woke up and was done, well it was over……she was done. We could barely get the shot in the stroller, thank goodness for binkies.

Cute chubby little toes………

How perfect is she???

I went to visit Lyla (and Katie I guess…..) the day after they got home from the hospital. At first I was just going so I could cuddle her for a bit, but somehow my camera ended up in the car. I got to Katie’s house and we decided we would sneak a few pictures in with some natural light so Katie didn’t have to go “work” in the studio. She really shouldn’t even be up and running around, I tell you she is crazy. Lyla slept through everything we were doing, the only thing we struggled with is the fact that we were shooting without our lights. Natural light through a window is tricky business, and we were madly changing the settings on our cameras the whole time. But it was so much fun to try something new, and so much fun to play with beautiful Lyla.
Oh and I just had to change my song for Lyla’s pictures to Jewel’s Angel Standing By. I pretty much start to tear up anytime I listen to it. So pretty.

Um her feet. They are way too long for her tiny body…….crazy!

The amazing Amanda Keeys sent me this absolutely gorgeous hat to photograph, it arrived from Australia just a few days before Lyla arrived. Perfect timing! You can get your hands on Amanda’s hats here.

How adorable is this sweet boy??! As soon as we were done his session I emailed a few pictures to Katie and she picked him up for the latest Naartjie shoot. I couldn’t believe how easy he was, even though he could crawl, he just sat wherever and watched me. When he got bored he would crawl away so we’d change the scenery. The only challenge with him was keeping things out of his mouth! I found this onesie at babyGap and just about died, how cute and perfect for babies to wear in a picture. I bought one in every single size.

And thanks for all the boosting comments about my brace face. I’m going to wear these things with pride!
Yes I am so in LOVE with this tiny baby girl, she is even more beautiful than we figured she would be! I have spent way too much time at the hospital the last few days, but it’s helping with my baby hungriness. And yes, I do suffer from that from time to time.
Can’t wait for Katie to be able to go home and even more excited to get Lyla in the studio. That dang hospital lighting just won’t do.
Meet Lyla Rose (if you haven’t already on Katie’s blog) all 6 pounds 15 ounces of her. Congrats Dan & Katie on girl #3!!

(stole Saylor’s MJ shirt for the above picture, it just seemed necessary.)

Alright fine. I’ve got braces. Now you know. Katie talked me into it and now I’m wondering what the heck I was thinking. Since I’ve got them on I’ve been asked 5 times as much as before if I’m my kids babysitter. Nice. And Ryan can’t take me seriously when I’m talking to him. Oh well, 10 more months of the painfulness and it will be all worth it! Here’s the link to my AMAZING orthodontist, there is no way I would have done it unless he was doing them, love him!
You knew it was coming.
I was crushed this morning when Gracie informed me that it was Dr. Seuss day today at school and that everyone was wearing their pajamas…..I had set out like 5 new Matilda Jane outfits for her to pick from. Such horrible timing! haha! Saylor on the other hand, was available for me to play dress up with. I wasn’t going to take any pictures yet, it was early in the morning and I felt pretty tired. But as soon as she got dressed up, she marched over to the basement door and jabbed her little finger against the door, ready to go down to the studio to have her pictures taken. I keep waiting for her to get over it and start to hate me photographing her all the time, but she loves it more the older she gets. It’s pretty funny. I didn’t help her pose in any of these pictures. I can’t believe she made it through six outfits before she was bored with it!
Watch this video to see what happens when the camera comes out. Don’t miss Jace’s old man walk at the very end, it’s my favorite part. And let’s pretend like the girls hair is all combed and looking cute, okay?? Cheese Queen

Don’t worry, there’s just a doll stuffed in that cream bowl. It looks kind of creepy doesn’t it??

Pretty much the cutest name ever right?? Heather didn’t even know I had a Saylor too, and it’s even funnier that I have a Grace too! We must both have awesome taste in names. This sweet baby girl was only 5 pounds, just a tiny peanut and she was an excellent sleeper too. So even though she was quite a surprise for this family, I can tell they love and adore her…..and who wouldn’t, just look at her!

I know what you are thinking, the crown is a little over the top…..HECK YEAH!! That’s what we were going for! Seriously we were dying that she was just chillin’ there with that huge thing balancing on her head. So perfect for the princess that she is.

Taking a peek……

…….then back to sleep.

On a side note, I am counting down the minutes for Ryan to get home so I can head off to meet Katie’s BEAUTIFUL baby girl that she had this morning. I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE HER! Katie said her c-section went great and she is snuggling her new baby girl at this very moment. I love her already and I haven’t even seen her. GAK!!! Dying to be at the hospital right now!
WAIIIIIIIITTTTT a minute!! Holy shizzers my Matilda Jane package just arrived!!!! NO WAY! BEST DAY EVER!!!!! I love you March 1st!!
Dayton didn’t like me. Or my studio. He even yelled at Elmo. He would not look in my direction and got plain ticked when his mom tried to put him down. After a battle of the wills that lasted about 30 minutes, he won. His mom took him home and we decided to try again the next week. Sometimes you just catch a baby on the wrong day, and there is nothing wrong with trying again, I don’t have a problem with it at all. When he came back, he still didn’t really want to be friends, but he did do much better. Good thing, I would have been so sad if I wasn’t able to capture his cuteness, I mean LOOK AT HIM! He is the most handsome one year old. Check out all that hair. Only six hair cuts in his first year, that’s all……
